i just had a quote written yesterday for my home. the tech said that it was better to use regular fanfold paper air filters not the anti-static washable type i have.
is this true?
[i may have more questions soon after 2nd quote i am getting this thursday.]

That reusable is restricting the airflow, unless it is kept spotless & was oversized to begin with.
I like the pleated filters myself.

Most residential units cannot pull enough air thru those washable 'electrostatic' filters. The 1" thick pleated filters are only a little bit better. Unless filter is very large (over 1 square foot per ton), you are pretty much stuck with the standard fiberglass filters. They don't filter very well but they flow enough air and they are cheap.
