    Is my system a 3 TON system?

    I requested a 3 ton system to replace the old 3 ton system I had. The contractor installed the following Trane components:
    XL15i (4TWX5036A) plus Hyperion XL (TAM7A0B30)
    The air handler seems to be a 2.5 ton system (30,000 BTUH). Is this normal? Should I complain?

    You would get a hair more SEER and 1000 more BTUs of cooling out of the 036 air handler but the 030 is an approved match and gives 37,000 BTU, slightly over 3 ton. Might have done it for physical size reasons or something. The 036 is slightly wider.
