The outside unit of my heatpump has gotten very dirty as a result of tree sap. The housing and blades are covered with a dark, sticky residue. Does anyone have any recommendations re: a product that can get rid of this? I assume this doesn't hurt the system at all, but it is definitely very unsightly!

    Thanks for any help!

Clean with a rag dampened with mineral spirits. If you want to preserve the finish of the heatpump, put on a coat of auto wax afterwards.

If it's on the outside of the heatpump, it's most likely blocking the coil. Call for a professional cleaning.
If everything was always done "by the book"....the book would never change.
