Had a call that a chiller was down. Opened up panel to find the wires all burnt up. You can see how the wires were sort of twisted around each other. That was the way I found it, with some electrical tape hanging off of it. It was 1 gauge wire coming in the top of the compressor contactor. A 60 ton compressor, 480 volts by the way. I guess the guy didn't have long enough wire and had to make a quick fix! Not safe, for sure.

Makes you wonder what other "fixes" the guy did.

Man, let me tell ya. It's been three or four months already and it still has "that" smell inside the panel.
I had my head inside a 4160v primary reactor starter panel the other day that failed to transition to run and subsequently burned out the reactor... That was a smell I would like to soon forget.
Don't pick the fly crap out of the pepper.
