    I used to live in Portland Texas

    All utilities, power,cable,and telephone was underground. Nothing above ground except the street lights.

    In my area the power and cable TV is above ground and the telephone is underground. All went out for both hurricanes last year.

    The phone company stated the failures were due to "major cable failures".

    We had to call separately for the home and business line repair service. That was a PIA. They responded OK for the business line but didn't correct a salt air corrosion problem on the line side of their box......I corrected that myself.

    They never showed up for the residential calls for either storm.

    Rob, Louisiana has been a disaster for a long time.....

    Hmm Evacuation

    Barring hurricanes, what if there was a disaster at the Bay City Nuke plant? North wind, bad for me. South wind, bad for Jason and Rob. If it is man made, it is just a matter of time before it fails.
