The wife just called me at work. She said that she got a call (recording) from The Emergency Management Agcy. Mandatory evacuation for Victoria county. It looks like the eye will hit some 30-40 miles from here. Cheryl and I will probably take a ride over to Progesso, Mexico. No motel rooms available in Texas. Well maybe in Dallas. I hope my house and shop makes it. O well the insurance is paid up. Hurricanes do happen on the coast. Sort of spooky though. If anyone knows of any motels avaible in Texas please let me know. Guess I wont be around for a while. Roy
I left my house on the bayarea side of houston around 1pm wen. and it took me 5 hours to drive from there to my inlaws house in spring. (50 miles). We are safe from the surge, but will get a ass beating from the winds.
I couldnt find a hotel any further inland except for oklahoma city. And to get there, you are looking at a 24 hour drive. Houston to dallas is now 16-18 hours. There is no gas anyware or food. Katrina scared the hell outa everyone here.
Some of my close friends left at the same Time I did from the same part of town and they are still on the interstates trying to get to family in other cities (Austin & dallas) 24 hours so far for them on the freeway.
We are hunkering down and got the generator with about 150 gallons of gas. Run some window units and refrigerator. Hope everything goes ok.
