    The original finish is glass.

Nothing you paint it with will last, if you use it much.
It will look great until you turn on the burners.

Spend the time & money on a new cooktop.

    he is right

anything you put on that top is going to "F" it up . the only thing you could possibly do is have it re-glazed

This has become ANOTHER bigbird nightmare.
This cook top is not mine,i`ts my 88 year old next door neighbor who fell & broke her ankle. So her daughter flys out here from virgina to take care of her for a few months. SO whats the first thing she does is pull the cook top, goes to home depot & they sell her this white spray paint, now it looks terrible,is not heat resistent.I told her she should have left the damn thing alone. She is now trying to get home depot to replace the cook top.good luck with that idea.I told her to buy a new one.O NO,they cost to much.
I said ,thats it,your stuped,i`m going to feed my chickens.

Bigbird how about some good paint remover and get it back to the orginial. If there is chips in the porcelain you'll never fix it up like new. I have 3 things to ask you:

#1. this daughter must be a babe. Is this why you are sniffin' around over next door?

#2. did you make your picks in the football pool for this week?

#3. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm......... I'll get back to ya.

Benncool,it all starts with being married to a redhead Italian who sticks her nose in other peaoples buiness.
The girl next door tells wife what she`s going to do. Big mouth wife say`s O bigbird will pull the cook top out for you. Here we go now get bigbird involved. Now wife say`s the paint might cause a fire you can`t put it back in.I tell them all to go to h--l,i`ve got a sick chicken that needs a enima, leave me alone.

Damn! It's the Italian thing. My Italian wife does the same thing. I'll have plans to do something and she'll inform me that so and so from her work needs me to look at he 25 year old window shaker that's not cooling or whatever the weeks charity case is. I then just have to roll my eyes cause I gave up on telling her to stop voluntering me.
