I had a 'No A/C' call today, and I found the system out of freon completely. It was an Amana/Goodman, and after reading posts here I knew to thoroughly check the indoor coil, and sure enough that was where the leak was.
I'm not complaining about the product here for I've had equal problems of one sort or another with all of them. FYI, I was a Trane Comfort Specialist for 4 years before Home Depot moved in, but I wont go there now.
The reason for this post is just to say thanks for others bring up this problem and saving me time on finding the leak. I do everything I know to do a quality install. Manual J, duct sizing, take my time, no short cuts. New linesets, purge with nitrogen as I weld, pressure test to 200 psi, then vacuum down to about 300 microns, so I really get frustrated when my systems have problems, and it's just nice to know, I'm not the only one. Thanks.

I found a leaking goodman coil yesterday, it was 11yrs. old.
You just never know what your next call will be. Although the call before i guessed capacitor and was right.
