So Mr. Brown resigns from FEMA and a sucessor is placed in his position.
Hmm funny thing how everything in life is sort of like the trades.
DYI for HVAC usually = a disaster or worse
DYI for major electrical = usually a problem or worse
DYI for FEMA = people are hurt and die
Gubberment needs to put people in these critical jobs that have a strong and hands on background in what they do. I think Mr. Brown was going to be a scapegoat. Maybe some of the higher ups need to follow the guy out the door.

A lot of the problem was that FEMA was never intended or equipped to be the "first responders" to a natural disaster. They were never intended or empowered to take over relief and recovery operations from local and state leadership.
I'm not saying FEMA didn't screw the pooch a bit, but a lot of the confusion and chaos in the aftermath was caused by an abject failure of the local and state leadership to do thier jobs.
The mayor of NO and the governer of LA have a LOT to answer for next time they are up for reelection. If more government is the answer, then it's a really stupid question.

They were the ones that had to get the ball rolling from the beginning, but they had left the area and when they tried to return after the storm, they couldnt get into the city
If that sissy mayor would have had any idea what to do , both before and after , things wouldnt have been delayed as long

Brown was the head of an organization that needs to be able to turn on a dime, relatively speaking. Brown most likely stuck to standard protocol which was completely wiped out by the misactions of the local leaders. At the very first sign that the local leaders were not in control, Brown should have stepped in and taken over.
Of course, this was a no win situation for Brown. Had he overstepped protocol, the same people who are condemning his not taking over would be calling for his head because he overstepped his bounds. This was a tough situation all round.
To make matters worse about this whole media circus reported occurence; with the water still flooding the city, there was very little else that could have been done. The disaster was still taking place when the media started jumping all over our federal government and highlighted racist black leaders like Mayor Nagi and Jesse Jackson.
There seeems to be no better way to have handled the situation as it was still happening. It is the media blitzkrieg that caused most of the contention over an already frustrating series of horrific events.Government is a disease......masquerading as its own cureEcclesiastes 10:2 NIV

They need to teach the Democrats how to evacuate a hurricane, all the people responsible for this mess still have their jobs.
