New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin warned of a death toll as high as 10,000 in the first chaotic days after the storm, which displaced around a million people. Others warned of thousands.

As emergency workers searched abandoned houses, they found far fewer bodies than such predictions would have suggested.

While the only thing Mayor Nagin seems to be good at is sensationalizing and blaming everyong but himself it is a relief to see just how wrong this man was. Hopefull when we rebuild New Orleans we will not allow the corrupt government factions of the past be part of the New-New Orleans.

Has'nt he acted like someone guilty of doing something wrong , not knowing what to say or do.

It is a shame for the peoplethat are in need down there because all of that Blaming and the the racist accusations sure have made me feel like he is up to something

after all he wasnt even there when the hurricane hit and he didnt return for a day and a half later ...and then he came out saying that s$#@ about the CIA going to kill him

I guess my big question is.......do the people of Louisiana realize how corrupt their city and state goverment is or do they even care. Its kind of funny how its getting to be acceptable anymore as long as their getting you all the pork they can get.All depends on the amount of low lifes in the state being they justify each other. Is it just me or does it seem like Louisianan has a larger amount of low lifes then normal?

I am hopefull the loss of live will be low... The loss of property will be staggering. We will, more than likely rebuild.. in time.

They should know how bad their government is, there are enough full length movies exemplifying it. The Big Easy, Blaze and Hard Target come to mind off the top of my head. I know there are many more that nearly celebrate the corruption in Louisianna and especially New Orleans.

Per capita, New Orleans has the worst track record of corruption in recent history. When police officers are moonlighting as hit men (and women) for the local crime organizations, it has gotten pretty bad.
