First of all, I love the iron core ignition transformers. They are the most dependable on oil burners. Easy to test in the field and are just tanks.
Has anyone else here run into problems with these electronic ignitors?
How are we to test them if the manufacturers tell us that we can not use the screwdriver test? If you do the spark seems weak.
12KV is 12KV there is no special 12KV and they all have about the same mA rating, between 28 and 35. Which is in line with iron core txfmrs at 10KV.
I am not going to lug in a Dongon transformer tester on every service call. It's just not practical.
Has anyone seen a good txfmr tester?
