No water should be in the pan if it's draining properly!
This may sound like a dumb question and obvious but,
On an a/c heat combo, the condensate pan at the evaperator coil is full of water, ok, now when you turn on the heater there should be a big increase in humidity because of that water until it evaporates, sounds elementary is that correct ?
No water should be in the pan if it's draining properly!
There should'nt be any water...it should be draining out.
Yes you are correct, but as we know these furnace/coil combos are not always leveled properly.
Thanks
Why would you want to turn the heat on in the summer anyway?
You got a good point there
The water will actually resemble mushrooms by the time the heat is turned on.

Is this a condensing furnace? 90%+. Is this a secondary drain pan in a horizontal application you are talking about? If this is a secondary drain pan, you don't want water there this means your primary is backed up. About the mushrooms. I'll take shitakes if you get any of those in there.
It's a 80% horizontal. actually I'm guessing that water is standing in the primary pan, because before the unit was out of level and water came out the air supply distribution box that is in front of the coil. Not good, so I leveled it as best as I could considering I was alone there, now at least it comes out the primary pan, I'm also assuming the the hot attic air will evaperate the water long before any problems occurre,
by the way those mushrooms are magic!!Psilocybe Cubensis
Water in the emergency pan will evaporate out if it isn't continuously being replenished. If this is the case it will rust through in a couple of seasons and become useless.

when you are cooling, do not keep thermostat to fan on. leave it on auto. when you keep your fan on at all times your a/c works to remove humidity then shuts off but your fan keeps running. your coil in the duct is saturated thus dispersing alot of humidity back through your vents.
