have to replace evap coil on this self contained cooler. It blows cold air on patient at doctors office. athe compressor has 404 and 507 stamped on it. it currently runs on 507. we have a full jug of 404. I hate to buy a full jug of 507 for 33 ozs. the factory subcontractor says it is ok.wasnt sure

It really comes down to what your metering device is set up to work with. If the metering device is rated for 404a then I would say no problem.

Is the metering device a TEV or cap tube?

If you change the TEV element (powerhead) to the correct one and adjust the valve superheat it will work just fine. Although it seems like a lot of unnecessary work. IMO. Good luck.

The P/T chart for 404A and 507 are close enough but not sure if both use the same refrigerant oil. Have you tried to call the Manufacturer or Tech Support?

It will work fine I promise. If the TXV says 404a/507 and the compressor says 404a/507 then whats the problem???? Both use POE oil which is what comes in that compressor.

Both gases use the same tev element for low temp. For medium they are different. For example: a sporlan tev valve will use a "PC" charge for medium temp 507 and an "SC" charge for medium temp 404a. Other than that it will be fine.
