I believe the oil giants with their billions in pure profit over the last 12 months could stand to throw in a couple of million apiece to get things going. God knows their making a killing at the pump!!

I second that. Katrina has just given them an excuse to price-gouge.
    WHY?

They must be self insured. Insurance companies wouldn't be that dumb. Unfortunately we're all paying for those oil rigs.

Just like the entire community has to pay for that walk in cooler you repaired at their favorite restaurant today.

Don't want them to pay, I just don't want them to jack up prices because a hurricane hit LA.
    WHY?

You can be sure that no matter what happens to the oil companies, we'll pay.

If nothing happens to the oil companies, we'll still pay.

We'll continue to pay through the nose as long as all of those refineries they've closed over the last few years remained closed.

They've waited a long time for this day. No more of those 90s jokes about the only difference between a pigeon and a Texas oilman is that the pigeon can still make a deposit on a Mercedes.

I think it's somewhat disturbing that they called a "special session" of congress to talk about Terry Shiavo, a session we as taxpayers had to pay for in one way or another. As far as the gas crisis and such, they will let free enterprise guide it along.....which means.....prepared to get screwed some more.
Maybe we should just let the big corporations take over the country, errrrrrr I mean, make it offical, put them in Washington.

The big oil companies(BP, Royal/Shell, Exxon) all showed profits of between 5% and 10% last year. Not bad money but I can't believe a bunch of self employed business owners would begrudge someone making 10% profits.

Did anybody here make 10% profit last year? Would your customers be justified to think badly of you if you did?
