leak detectors, are they reliable?
I was wondering if detectors are a part of everyones tool bag, or if they are a waste of money. I inherited a CPS LS780B at work and was wondering if I can trust it as quickcheck on a running system?

I would suggest you try it when you find a leak. Gauge it by seeing how far away from the leak it triggers the alarm. This will be the only way to tell if it works or not. Some detectors are prone to tip failure, check if yours has replaceable tips and if so, does yours need a new one ?
I only use a leak detector when I need a general area, then pinpoint the spot with Fantastik. Most times I dont even bring the detector along for the ride, the other evidences of leaks are hard to miss.Extended dehydration is the key
