    mismatched units

    what are the results of installing a 2 ton condenser to a 1 and 1/2 evaporated[/LIST]

    Bummer about the mismatch.
    Need more information, make and model numbers of both condenser and evap coil, size of piston or metering device txv ect.

    You typically don't want to have a condenser larger than the evaporator. But submit the specs.

    I don't know what the make is of the airhandlers is but they ar e over twenty years old. The condensers are Goodman. This is an apartment complex with many years of inexperienced techs playing with the units. Their idea of increasing cooling was to put 2ton condensers on a 1and1/2 ton airhandler

    Adverse affects could be frozen indoor coils or lack of cooling due to improper metering or compressor failures due to refrigerant floodback.

    Possible benefit; superior dehumidification.
