Hi. I live in new york, have a small two family home. I currently have oil heat. Due to the cost of oil, I want to convert to gas, I already use gas to cook with and for my dryer. Had two plumbers come in and I am confused, seems like they were in such a hurry that they didn't answer all my questions. What I need to know is: Can I have one boiler and two thermostats, one therm for the first floor and one for the second floor so that I will have one gas bill?
I am using the house for my family and my funds are low so that seems like the cheapest thing to do. I have been told that in the event I do rent, I can always lock the thermostat, is that true? Lastly, the house was built in 1925 so it's old and no one can tell me basically percentage wise how much money I will be saving by switching from oil to gas. I don't want to invest all that money to save a small amount. I am paying through the nose now on the budget plan. Thanks.
