Hey'all
Have am AHU that is leaking condensate from the wrong place. The pitch on the drain/unit seems OK Drain does not seem to be plugged. Someone had plugged the vent on the condensate drain at the unit. The unit is pulling negative so I "unplugged" the vent. The drain still doesn't seem to work right. What's up with that?

Does it have a P trap in the condensate?

If the vent is between the primary drain pan and the P-trap , you need to cap it. The vent should be past the p-trap. Running traps dont work as well as p-traps. What kind of trap are you useing?

Thanks for the advice. I believe the vent is after the trap, I'll cap it and see if it isn't just plugged.

Here's a couple of other things to check:
On draw-through units you might have condensate water
being pulled off the coil and into the cabinet bypassing the drain pan. This is especially a problem with a dirty coil or air filter. Clean the coil, clean or replace the filter, and clean the blower wheel.
Secondly, the drain pan may be rusted out, if metal, or cracked if plastic.

Make sure you are not double traped. some times the run out will be moved by some unkown person and create a trap by running up hill for a spell then back down.
If common sense is so common how come so few of us have it!
