Funky Clothes

My washing machine doesn't seem to be washing well. It goes through all the motions, but the clothes are funky.

I ran it through a cycle and noticed a lot of soap left after the tub drained. Then it spun and filled for the rinse. Drained, but still a lot of suds left on top of the clothes.

Ran it through just a rinse and the water turned gray again and left suds.

Any ideas?

Call the maytag man...he's sorta lonely these days...and my wife won't let me with-in 5 feet of ours...

could be something plugged up in pump or to much soap. try running empty on hottest setting for a few cycles to flush it out.

or could just be extra funky summer work clothes

Thought of running it empty with vinager. The water seemed to drain okay because I could hear the pump cavitating.

Hey Lynn...
If you post some info on your washer, i.e.: model/serial, I may be able to help you with your washer problem. Is your washer a Maytag Neptune? Are you on a well or city water? And when you say "funky", do you mean "musty/moldy"? Let me know.

Yes it drain compleatly. Brenda ran some vinigar through it today and changed to a different soap and she thinks it was better.

I use pool chlorine to clean out our home drains and to degrease the dishwasher once a month. With 4 females in the house hair clogs are common. I pure a gallon of it straight into the drain...and dishwasher and it cleans the pipes out really well (a its better than drain oh) maybe running a gallon or two though an empty cycle or two will clean out the soap residue. don't let it touch anything it will destroy cloth. Might be worth the $2.50 for a jug of it at wal-mart.

I hope your drains are plastic.


If using soap powder, It's best to put the soap in and fill with water prior to putting the clothes in. That's what I'm told.

Hey Lynn...
Take a gallon of cheap vinegar, pour it in the tub, leave overnight, in the morning, fill with hot water, and soap, run thru the longest cycle, that should clear up your problem.
