I have a small electric heater I thought about using this winter and I was curious about how much it would cost me to run.
I am currently charged 5.1784 kwh for electricty and my heater is 1100 watts. Is there a way to calculate how much this would cost me to run in a days time. I thought that there might be a special calculator on the net to do it with or some other way.
Thanks Brad

1.1 kw x 5.1784 = or about 6 cents per hour. No way to calc how many hours its gonna run easily.

Ok, a kilowatt is 1000 watts, so your heater uses 1.1 kilowatt-hours per hour.
I'm somewhat confused with your electric rate, but I think what you mean is $.051784/kWh, or 5.17 cents per kilowatt-hour.
5.17 cents x 1.1 = 5.69 cents per hour to operate.
$1.37/day.

It's later than you think.

That is very helpful guys thanks a lot. It would cost me about $41 a month to run if I run it 24/7 for 30 days.

a cheap way to find out how many hours it runs, is hook up a electric clock to it.
there but for the grace of god, go all of us
