Carrier does have a nice 3 stage furnace.
Other brands have a lot more steps of modulation though.
Lennox, still confusion if its 3 steps or 10 steps.
    Rheem 13 steps of modulation.
    York 65 steps of modulation.

The question is, which one is right for the home owner.
Non of them are the wrong one.

But, umm, aren't propane prices rising as well? It *does* come from oil...

Also, why would you say that oil furnaces are any "dirtier" than any other method of heating. As long as combustion is proper, and a low sulfur fuel is used, and you wipe the dust off of them periodically

I'm surprised no one has suggested a heat pump yet. You should at least look into it for your main heat source, and use oil/propane/ or electric for back-up.

It takes longer to clean an oil furnace then a gas furnace.
Might be why he said they are dirtier.
