Thread: Thermal cutoff

    What does your inspector say about thermal cutoffs? I recently ran into an inspector who wouldn't allow a thermal cutoff on a gas boiler. Inspector said if there's an explosion the cutoff would be nothing but a piece of shrapnel added to the mix. Personally, If there's an explosion, that little red disk would be the least of my concerns.

    I don't see how any kind of redundant safety device could be percieved as a bad thing. Especially a temperature limit on a Hot water boiler.
