    It's people!

It's not the tools or the work or the van you drive.
It's not the paycheck,( although that is of great value), nor the bennies like insurance and vacation time ...

It's the PEOPLE whom you serve with.

Now I must admit, I dont like many of my work assignments from day to day or week to week!
I dont like some of the conditions I must force myself to function under ...
And I dont like running out of SOMETHING on a daily basis, like Sil-Fos, ladders, fittings, welding gas, pipe, etc., etc.
And the scheduling of the various crews, right on top of one another so nobody can hardly move without stepping over you or on your hoses or pipe, etc .... etc.....

    This all sucks BIG TIME!!!

    But I like the people.

I like em for more reasons than I hate the working conditions!

I like em cause they are human, they know they are fallable and they dont make demands upon the workforce more than they put upon themselves.

And they try real hard to do a nice job. Solid work using solid techniques.

Low and behold .... I have been there long enough for my insurance to kick in.
I'm pretty much left alone to do my work and not hassled.

Of course things are far from perfect ... but I'm developing a relationship with many who work there and I like what they are about.
And they are more important than having everything that's neecessary BEFORE a project is started!

I used to be the other way around.

I guess I've changed over the years.

Even though I'm not doing service...
Even though I'm not in a company paid vehicle...
Even though the company isnt giving me the wage I am worth....
Even though ... etc., etc., etc...... I'm kinda settling in ... right where I am at.

    Contentment.

And keeping all the negative thoughts to our-self?????

This is my biggest downfall! I have learned it is better to say less and do more to rectify the short commings.

Left alone and not hassled by whom? People!!!!!!
When a person is in a position of authority, no matter how great or small that responsibility is ... there will be pressure applied to that position, to that PERSON from time to time.
And when they are pressured to get more accomplished ... they press those under them.

    They hassle em.
    They needle em.
They do things which are in affect ... COUNTER-PRODUCTIVE!!!

The minute you are late or your welds have too many leaks or your pipe runs arent straight enough, etc., etc ... they are on you like flies on stink.
And this is simple human nature.
Pass the buck. What comes around, goes around. etc.

I am seeing less and less of that lately and more of ... "keep up the good work", type of talk.

R12, I am glad things are going well for you. When you are on a large construction site, the folks in charge don't really like to hear a lot of ideas about how to do things better. They appreciate people who can get stuff in the air and don't complain. And I agree completely, its the people who are important.

    Service is way lonely.

Not a lot of people on the roofs I haunt.

When there is some sort, any sort of contact, I am grateful.

You make friendly with anyone & everyone.
Is this a Fabreze moment? C.Y.D. I'm voting white elephant. 2.
