That was my first thought. 60 to 80 mph winds, driving rain,
lightning, you would think theyed gone to anoyher airport.

There are two eyewitnesses that say they saw the plane go dead after being hit by lightning. One of them is a commercial pilot who is being considered an expert eyewitness.

A guy on the 4 lane next to the airport said it was raining so hard he could not see the other cars on the road.

I live just across the border of Canada, some 40 miles from Toronto as the crow flies.
Driving home from work today I saw the storm clouds up north and they were dark, very dark!!.
We have been getting some pretty nasty storms lately, which is very unusual.

planes land in that weather all the time, he had the misfortune of being hit by lightning

we get the bursts that do that, most people would see fine if they slowed down a bit.
That 4 lane is actually 16, 8 each way, part of the busiest stretch of highway in North America and everyone is in a hurry

I'm told that the pilots don't really even do the landings, they are all done by computer and their radar. I've landed in bad weather too, I love it,.. watching the wings flex and the turbulence. I always imagin that gremlin on the wing like from the twilight zoan. I bet those Canadians were like "wholy Sh!$ EH!" Could'v smelled like burnt back bacon. I'm glad they all survived, now the odds of anyone els from now on surviving are shot.
