If you are dealing with residential A/C, the bible is the ARI ratings. The manufacturers will give you which of their coils match. ARI will also give you 3rd party coil matches too though they are computer generated specs. http://www.ariprimenet.org
I would like to know about how coils are sized... do you match the evap to the compressor, the TXV to the evaperator, the compressor to the evap, the condensor to the ??? seems to me that once the load is known, one would start with the evap and match the metering device the the evap, then the pump the evap/metering device and then the condensor to the expected combined load of heat from the evap plus pump's heat of compression. ALSO, how to size them as compared to each other, rules of thumb are ok for me as I am wanting to get the gist of the idea.
seems as though I read a lot about mismatched coils and the like and I am now curious enough to ask the above question.

You also match the condenser and indoor coil to meet the sensible, and latent requirements, that the manual j says you need.
An indoor coil may match to the outdoor unit, but not give you the latent you need, or the sensible.
