Hi: Does anybody know anything about Dirt Demon Dust Shield made by AAF. I bought this filter at Walmart. It's a merv 6. I deceided to use a disposable filter after reading how important filtration is on heat pumps. Had my heat pump serviced lately, and the tech said that the washable filter(also bought at Walmart)seemed too restrictive.

    Thanks,
    Thorton

Those Dirt Demon filters by AAF are the absolute most restrictive disposable filters I have ever encountered.
They restrict the airflow more than the 3M filtrete filters that are so horrible for airflow.
If more government is the answer, then it's a really stupid question.

If the best filter is one that is only based on not letting any airbourne contaminants into the system then you would be best off with a piece of cardboard stuffed in the filter rack.

Use a very low restriction filter that fits tightly to the perimeter of the rack and seal any and all opens, no matter how tiny, that are between the filter and the blower unit.
