I am in the process of buying another house and it has flexi duct wish it did not.
Should the flexiduct be pulled tight?
Also, it is in the crawl space as well will critters tear into it?
-
yes to both questions, pull it tight enough that there are no noticable sags in the flex but not tight enough to kink it at any bends. Support it well so it stays this way. And yes critters will eat their way into the flex if they have a mind to.

or if they are hungry

I had to replace my flex duct in the attic because rats ate their way thru thru them. This time I kept it raised off the attic floor, and I also threw in some rat poison and left several old flex laying around so they had their choice on what to eat, they chosed the poison.

I've yet to see rats eat flex in a Florida attic, but it's possible.Have seen them and other critters do it in a crawl, and under mobile homes.
They are attracted to the warm or cool, and the moisture if they sweat.they also love the material and wil eat the insulation off wires.

I think you`re right, What I wanted to say was that they cuted holes in the flex.

The SMACNA code gives guidance on flex duct.
Shall be supported at least every 5', but connection to another duct or equipment is considered a support point. Shouldn't sag more than 1/2" per foot.
In no case will the material contacting the the flex be less than 1" when used as a hanger. Bailing wire is out unless a sadle is used.
