Wow, they need a whole new system, good luck wit dat.
Tech went out to a "no cool" and found evap coil, accum, and cond coil leaking. Goodman CPKJ036-1B, ser. 9605xxxxxx. Has a 10 year parts warranty but when we called to order parts, they are obsolete. Supplier claims Goodman refuses to do anything about it.

Hey cockroach, don't bug me! ©
Who ever named that company "GOODman??? It ought to have been SHITman!
Oh come on now, you can not blame the equipment. Just because the guy in the station wagon installing it could not afford to use $5.00 dollars worth of Nitrogen and it caused just a few leaks shouldn’t be a big deal, right?
Maybe next time the owner will not choose Amana or Goodman, and choose a manufacture that hand picks who installs their equipment a little better.
HO didn't choose it. Builder did. HO bought this home new after it was completed and put on the market.
Records show 10 year warranty "good" till next year and the parts are obsolete.
Goodman does not secify who puts it in. They should and THAT is the point.
This is a widow on fixed income at this point in time and Goodman puts the screws to her.

Agreed. Goodman and white trash sorta go together. And in this instance, you make a good point. The CU is a 3 ton and the AH is a 4 ton...installed on the 1st floor of a 2 story home where the 1st floor heat load calc calls for 2 tons. Tghere is another 1.5 tonsystem on the 2nd floor. Another Goodman
Nice, eh?

You know boot, if they had a dealer list of contractors who know what they are doing, it would not be all that bad. I know guys who have put it in and last a long time, but it is finding someone who will put one in who knows what they are doing is the problem.
This just reinforces my theory of you raise your chances of having a good install performed anywhere in this country 10 fold when you choose not to go with a GoodDUMB product.
well, our dispatcher waited for a couple hours for a call from the Goodman rep who promised to call early today. SHE finally HIM and SUDDENLY, it can be retroed! Imagine that! They must have read what the law says about warranties and available parts.
However, she still has the problem with the size. Not only has Goodman tried to stick it to her, the builder gets dibs.
She has little if any recourse.
Thanks to all you hacks out there. Judgement awaits.

Hey Harley doesn't do it eather. The only company I knew ( and there are probably more ) is Lennox and Sears. I once got an oil ignitor fron a 20 or so old Sears space heater in 1 week. I've got to get Harley parts from after market.
I heard a company is only responsible to provide parts 10 years after mfg. Does anyony know if this is accurate?

I believe that the time length a company has to supply parts varies with what you're talking about and how many they sell in a given year. We just had an oil cooler with a leaking suction pressure regulator that Alco stopped making and stopped supplying parts for all at the same time. Since they sold so few in a year they weren't required to make parts even though the valve was only a year old. Had to rip it out and put in a Parker.Originally posted by hvacker
