Why don't you get your contractor to fix it if he installed improper equipment?
The contractor that installed my 2.5 ton split system used the incorrect evap. fan blower. On low speed it is pushing out approx. 1400 cfm. According to the maufacture, this unit should be at 1050 cfm. My question is can I either replace the fan speed circuit controller with another one or can I put an inductor in series with the motor to limit the current to slow it down or do you recommend replacing the the whole blower?

find who the local manufacture rep. is and ask them to recremend some one. usualy the manufacture will stand behind the equipment instaled some what. thay are not responsipal for the work done. they can point you in the right direction. this should be repaired by a service company not the home owner.
Elaborate a bit, what make is the system, and is it a variable speed blower motor
Whats the actual airflow? Stamped ratings dont cut it.
The name of the manufacture is Luxaire. There is a manual blower speed control on the blower. I already have it set on low speed.

The actual airflow that I measured coming out all the supply ducts totaled 1400 cfm.

Install an air bear filtering system that will slow down the old motor plenty probably put you right in the old ball park of the needed cfm's.
By the way how did you measure the cfm's? I use a tape measure and measure from the grille to end of air flow but it's a special tape measure, I stole it out of Doc's tool bag.

Model number of blower and coil is????
Check the pressure drop accross the coil. We'll see how accurate 1400 is.

I measured the airflow with a turning vane at each supply duct and added them together. I have an Aprilair filtering system on the return side already. I am working on getting the model numbers off the coil and blower. It has been way too hot to go up into my attick.
Are you not getting the cooling you want? What made you check the air flow in the first place?It sounds like he put in a 3.5 air handler, if so did he charge you for a 3.5 air handler.I don't think you will get any help from Luxaire, only because it is a York product.I still think you will have to pay another contractor to fix your problem.
Post the mod number of the blower, coil, and condenser.
