Can any of you tell from experience whether the Comfort series that Carrier makes is quieter (they claim 72db) than the American Standard Heritage for a 14 SEER unit with VS Handler? Or about the same? Thanks

Indoor noise is a function of install & duct sizing vs CFM. Both could be noisy or quiet.
Outside, Carrier has the nod. The Heritage 14 ain't bad but not 7.2 bels either.

72dB? ouch! The Mitsu condensing units run 45db (< 5 ton) to 57db (> 8 ton). Anyone know why the traditional split systems are so damn noisy compared to the mini-splits when it comes to the condensing units?
