Repair or replace?

I have a 20 year old Lennox G16 that has been, up until now trouble free. Recently I discovered water in the furance room and at once call my HVAC tech. He told me that my drain pan has rusted and needs to be replaced. He further stated that Lennox will not sell me the drain pan alone and that I must in addition replace my coils which are still ok.
These are my questions, is there somewhere I can buy a drain pan that would fit my system or can the pan be welded to prevent it from leaking?

well you could buy the evaporator with the pan use just the pan and now you have a spare coil in case the original goes bad

Any tin knocker will make you a replacement drain pan for ~ $50.

How do you know what the tin knockers charge in his area.

You indoor coil is ok now, what are yoou going to do if it needs replaced next month.

Replace the coil and pan.

ok you now have a pan on order but who is going to install it. most cases the coil doesnt slide out easyly and if you kink the lines going to it you have bigger problems
see if you service company will replace it for you. freon can be dangerous if you kink or bleak a line.

Have your HVAC guy make you a pan! Dan is about wright on the price. Or have him coat the pan, this will last forever.

I don't know about some of you guys, but I'm not pulling a 20 year old coil out, replacing the pan and reinstalling the 20 year old coil. Seen to many coils start leaking shortly after the drain pan was replaced...

The system is 20 years old, put it in the hall of fame!!!
Just trying to repair the pan or replace the pan doesn't make much sense to me. Think about it, what do 20 year old coils look like?

g16 furnace probably c16 coil with hs19 outdoor unit.
just replace evap coil. hs 19s seem to be going strong still. no way no how i would do just pan.

I'm with Mark, I wouldnt do it because I dont feel like getting blamed for a leak in the coil in 3 months.
