Whirpool heat pump vs Amana
Hi experts,
Looking for a heat pump, 3 tons, 14 SEER. Received a few quotes, Amana seems to be ahead of the pack because of the Warranty. Also got an interesting price for a Goodman SSZ14 (not the GSZ14...) which, from the specs, look very similar to the Amana ASZ14. But someone just came out with a Whirlpool Gold offer (WGHP4436A), stating it is the same thing. I am trying to find info about this Whirlpool product, negative or positive.
Thanks!

Got to love marketing......
Just change the name and it's better.
Whirlpool doesn't make it.....It's not the Brand with the fewest repairs-It's all in the install!!! Attention to detail and using the best materials!

The SSZ14 is more of a "builder" line where the ASZ14 and the Whirlpool Gold are the premium line. Extras like compressor cover, sound deadening top grille, 2 speed fan motor, Copeland's Comfort Alert protection & diagnostics module are features the Goodman doesn't have. I see Whirlpool is coming out with the SSZ14 type machine too. So, yes, the Gold is a nicer machine. You'll have to decide of those features interest you.

Who mfrs Whirlpools?
Whirlpool's warr on their upper end heat pump models e.g., WGHP44, WGHP46, WGHP48 have Limited Lifetime Unit Replacement Warr, Limited Lifetime Compressor Replacement Warr, Limited Lifetime Heat Exchange Replacement Warr, which is right up their with Amana's ASZC16, ASZC18 heat pumps.
What exactly is a Limited Lifetime Unit Replacement Warr, the condensing unit?

Limited to the part/equipment only. You pay for it to be installed, and all code upgrades needed at the time.

Not many HVAC mfrs offer lifetime labor warr, nor parts either, for that matter, so if one does offer lifetime parts, isn't that a bonus?
