Well my philosphy is (for residential stuff anyway):
The only reason you have to adjust a TXV is because the jacka$$ before you did. If you need to adjust it, either its been monekeyd with or it's failing.

or it's worn out inside.
Or it's lost it's charge and needs a power head replaced.
Or the inlet screen is dirty or otherwise restricted.
