In May, SSgt. Heath Calhoun, SSgt. Ryan Kelly and Chris Carney commenced a 4200 mile cross-country bike ride, entitled "Soldier Ride 2005." The ride began in Marina Del Ray, California and will end in Montauk LI, NY on July 18.
Soldier Ride was formed by a group of people from East Hampton, New York who came together to show their support towards the members of our armed forces who have sacrificed so much for us. In 2004, Chris Carney cycled across America to raise money and awareness for The Wounded Warrior Project.
Together, Soldier Ride and the Wounded Warrior Project have reached thousands of wounded servicemen and women, providing comfort items, counseling, and rehabilitation to aid in the transition from a hospital bed to an independent life at home. Their work begins right at the hospital bedside of the most severely injured as they undergo treatment and rehabilitation in Department of Defense hospitals.
The entire Charczuk family is both pleased and honored to announce that Ryan, Heath and their families will be staying at the East Hampton house on Gerard Drive at the conclusion of their journey for, as Soldier Ride put it, "A much needed rest."
Please consider making a donation in their names.
