I have had an issue arise where a customer had a case of Dirty Sock Syndrome. The issue had occurred three times.
Finally, we were able to convince the dealer to use an E-Coated coil. A week after the new coil was installed, the
homeowner was complaining about a sweet smell emitting from her registers. The furnace is 2-stage variable speed
80%. It was installed about 2 years ago. The smell resembles that of someone making homemade kettle corn. I was on site yesterday and did confirm this odor. I did an inspection of the heat exchanger along with a carbon monoxide test. I guess my question is, has anyone else experienced this after a coil coating? Please keep in mind, this odor is only present in the heating mode.
Thanks is Advanced,
