Installed a 3&1/2 ton Comfortmaker condensor approximately 6 weeks ago (CACO42AKC4). Homeowner called yesterday complaining the unit is brand new, so how come the coil is all full of grass clippings and dirt so quickly, and is this normal? Now, I can handle the homeowner, but just for fun can someone tell me how much air is that unit moving, in CFM's or tons or however the correct way that figure is measured? Thanks.

It varies with each manufacture, and seer unit.

Minimum of 700, to about 1050 CFM per ton, for the condenser.

The spec guides for several different manufactures.

We have the books, and cd's for several brands, and those are the typical ranges they have.

I had never thought about it but would have guessed less. That is per ton?

    Trane:

    That is per ton.

Check the specs on rtu's, they usually give the condenser cfm, alot of resi splits don't.
