I so far replaced a compressor and today a txv on this ice machine that has already had both replaced before but seperately.
As far as I can figure out...8 months ago this unit was installed and 4 months later the txv was replaced then a month ago the compressor, 1 week later I replaced the compressor again and today the txv again
Nearest I can figure the original txv killed the original compressor from intermittently sticking open, then the txv was diagnosed and replaced and possibly overheated while being replaced, thus killing the compressor I replaced (afterwards 3 good batches no problems)
Then last friday the call came for no ice, I get there and have 65 psi low side on 404a 5 minutes into cycle, frosting back to compressor and down the side of the shell.
Tapped the txv with my screwdriver and pressure dropped right down to 41 psi.
Today I replaced the txv and soft soldered it in (don't go there)
And messed with it by hitting the manual harvest button early and warming the bulb and such for about 2 cycles (trying to get it to screw up)
Then left it make 5 good batches.
My boss is working on getting the unit replaced for the customer and we wanted to get them running for the weekend.
We the willing, led by the unknowing, for the ungratefull, have done so much for so long with so little, we are now qualified to do anything with nothing.
