The unit is on a ledge up high in the home owner's bedroom and this inside unit is just out of range of it's remote control. Does anyone know how I can boost the remote signal or put in a receiver. Or even better do they make a wall t-stat with wires?

if the remote uses an infared beam (you have to point it at the unit for it to work, like a TV) you can get a signal amplifier for it. it looks like a pyramid about 5 inches tall. you put the pyramid halfway between the remote and the unit and plug it in. it receives the infared signal and sends out a new, stronger signal in all directions.
if the remote uses a radio signal instead of infared, then i don't know what to tell you
