This is what happens when everyone cuts their price to win contracts. The companies have to figure out how to cut costs

NAS shows classic American short-term thinking. It is the same reason that Toyota is the best selling car here today.

When an American GM Union auto worker gets to work, he thinks about what he will be doing for fun that weekend.

When a Japanese worker gets to work, he worries about dishonoring his ancestors.

Two completely different approaches to life.

I'm confused! is Lennox Nas the "GM union.." or the Japanese worry about his dead grandpa?
By the way, I own an union made silverado, 46,000 miles and no issues, before that I drove a union made Sierra and put around 250,000 miles on it before road salt got the best of it, "thinking about the weekend" while working may not be such bad thing.

I think the fact that GM now stands for Government Motors speaks volumes about which approach makes for a more effective worker.

First, NAS would have to change the business model from a "condemn and replace" model that echoes residential sales.

They would have to foster a culture of technician excellence, rather than tracking the number or run capacitors that get replaced.

They would have to offer paid ongoing training, and a reward for excellent service, not excellent sales. If they want to reward sales, hire salesmen, not technicians.

They should offer a pay scale that paces the top of the industry, not trolls the bottom.

    Do you want more?

Can you give me the direction you would like?

Do I think it is a good place to work? Not from what I have gathered.

Do I think the business model is valid? No, because word gets out to the industry that your techs are looking to remove the existing equipment, and make a fast and dirty replacement on curb adapters with new Lennox equipment, and they cut out the profit of the service contractor by arranging for special parts pricing for these clients, which suppresses wages in the industry because not enough markup can be placed on future parts, and therefore, not enough money to offer good pay for the retention of good people by the contractors that will be hired through third party brokers to service the equipment after the sales techs are gone on to the next job.

It's a business model that relies on young, hungry, inexperienced people to become sales techs rather than learn the trade, encouraging these young men to step right up to (if not step over) the ethical line of condemning usable equipment for their own needs, placing them ahead of the customer's needs, and the trade as well.

    More?

One more thing, chopping others down is easy and cowardly. I would like to hear constructive thoughts to be considered seriously. Specifically what are the real issues?

I was being sarcastic when I asked, "more?"

The reason is that I have already related information that I have received directly from NAS techs, and former NAS techs have posted here.

So, there is really nothing more to be said than the truths that have been stated.

    Cowardly?

    You ARE joking, right?

No, actually I am not kidding. When others degrade the defenceless to make themselves feel better, then that is a very insecure person. That's not what I am saying here about anyone in particular, I just stating fact. LennoxNAS is a fortune 500 company started by a very successful and well liked man, it seems to me that is a good thing. I have had lots of techs work for me, some good and some bad but all the bad felt entitled to more that they had. When you have a team, the actions of a few can affect them all. This conversation to me is not about whit, it about hearing what the problem is so it can be worked on and fixed. But how can you find out what the real problems are if the conversation is a bash session. Thanks for your input, I appreciate your candor. Just remember I'm just asking, not arguing or lecturing because I'd like to know the truth. Maybe through logical discussion problems can be resolved and employees can be happy.

    Have a good night.

I think just the posts on this page that I made would give more than enough pause for consideration.

No one has been able to give me a cogent argument that makes the business model seem ethical and good for all concerned, which is a benchmark idea in good business practice.

In fact, if I could borrow from a financial expression, I'd call the business model "predatory selling."

Why dont you ask the many former employees that left the company after the buyouts? you guys have near 80% turnover rate, not only are you unable to keep the good help but cant keep the bad help either. Around here NAS has the worst reputation, slowly but surely NAS is tainting the Lennox name, contractors wont recommend or sell Lennox units cause of NAS. The best thing Lennox can do is to have NAS follow the same fate of Service Experts and revert back to unitary equipment sales.

Lennox Nas is not a fortune 500 company, NAS is just a speck of dirt hiding under Lennox Int. NAS came to light as result of multiple buyouts including Industrial Building Services, Benner, Tradewinds mechanical etc. I bet you have not been there long enough, also bet you wont last.
