well i dont know anything about union's up north but I can tell u the guys here in Texas r over paid hacks at my last job we picked up a ton of work fixing there F-ups. Sure iv met some guys in the union that are good and worth what they get but they are few and and far between so if i employ y'all's logic all union shops and employees are the devil. lol

and as far as traning every time iv asked to go to any classes my manager has always said yes and paid for everything including the munter's factory certification class witch was insanely expensive. they pay my rscs membership, my nate(witch i agree is a joke but none the less) and are pay the bill for me to get my CM and then my CMS after that. so if there is a down fall on providing my training i cant see it.

Now i do agree with ya'll they are too into stats and stuff like that but I dont give two ****s about that and dont even look at mine and iv been told I alway hit high on them so if u just do the work right you shouldn't have any problems and just for the record i fix all units i come to replacement is only a last resort if the repair exceeds the cost of replacement

I have about two weeks work so far this year fixing NAS screwups.

Another week's worth was quoted and not approved, because the client is in denial that it could be this bad.

So, their store personnel will probably continue to suffer. What a shame, after spending all that money....

You maybe the exception to the rule!!! for what seem Nas has nothing but incompetent quacks and parts changers as employees and thats the way they like it! Where do you rank in the magazine list? cause if you are not selling enough and taking days off like you said, you must be at the very bottom along with your branch, now if you are not bringing back $300K a year, well your ass better be lubed up.... and that applies to your branch manager too. My guess is you are a young nob, in your 20s with less than 5 years doing this for a living and you think you got it good, come back and give us an update a year from now!

No OEM should ever resort to service sales numbers. It only degrades the value of the unit. It just doesn't make sense.

On the street, I have never heard anything good about NAS, from customers, or other techs.

Which sucks, because I really like the Lennox equipment. My preferred package unit in their tonnage ranges...

Take that for what it's worth...

Does anyone know if Aaon really deployed CMS/NexTech as its Factory Authorized Service?!

    I hope not...

Next thing you know, the "Big Three" will start farming out the work...

    Oh wait... No they won't...

In the U.S., I would say the LC Package Unit market is lead by York, Trane, and Carrier a.k.a. the Big 3.
I would say Lennox and Aaon are neck in neck.
Daikin hasn't really been a player in the LC Pack arena.
Rheem seems to concentrate more on Resi. By the way, Rheem was manufacturing Daikin-McQuay branded units prior to the Goodman buyout.
Mammoth (Nortek) is not too popular.

I wont take that jab about my experience personal because you don't know me, BUT for the record I am 31 and have worked in the HVACR Industry sense I was 14. When I started working for my grandfather who owned an A/C and refrigeration company untill he unexpectedly died of cancer he didn't know he had when I was 17. Then at 18 after high school I started work for a national refrigeration and A/C company as an installers helper and worked my way to Service tech and obtained my Associates degree in applied science for HVACR. Which I left a year ago so I could spend more time with my young children. So now knowing that would you still say I'm a "young nob"?

O and yes we are not the top branch in our region but we are the branch that corporate call's when other branch's are in over there head to come and bail them out.

NAS is not an OEM for one. lennox manufacturing the "OEM" only contracts us to do certain jobs for them. we are a service company for national accounts hence the name "national accounts services"

    I see....

Well, I stand by my thoughts.
I think sales based service is bad for the industry.

Never had any personal dealings with the company. Just you know, with Lennox NAS on the side of the vans.... it was ASSumed they were part of the OEM.

Are aware that Johnson Controls/York, Ingersoll-Rand/Trane, Daikin, and United Technologies/Carrier don't only work on the equipment which each manufacturers?

They are the commercial sales/install force.

You would think that with such a limited mandate, they would do a great job at that, but no. At Christmas, I felt that I should send them a card, thanking them for all of the extra work I got fixing aspects of bad installs....

I read every post here. I said, well, "it can't be as bad as they say". I sat across the table from Gennari and company and listened to the NAS talk. I received the offer...and turned it down. A former branch manager called me and said stay far, far away. The follow up offer and hard sell came and I said, I can make it work. Needless to say, it was by far, the worst career decision I have ever made. I don't need to reiterate the issues listed over the several pages here. The 40% turnover rate speaks for itself. If you value your career, stay away.
How much is it an hour?
