Hey John Dalton, why do you have to act like such a nazi? Relax dude you dont have to point out every little mistake someone makes when they post a thread. Especially people that are just starting out in the field. Trust me no one likes a know it all kind of dude like you seem to be. Be nice, you may need some help one of these days and someone might act like a jerk to you. Respectfully yours Chris

Hey wonder boy. With only 41 posts you have yet to learn the personalities here at TALK. Relax and read up and get to know folks here better before reaching conclusions.

John Dalton and others here are very helpful and just may have the very advice you need to solve a perplexing problem you are facing at the moment you most need it.

Sometimes John comes across as Mr. Science but he knows the field no doubt, and if ya give him time and can look past the formalities and such......he is an OK guy..Not that he needs me to say that for him, but I did anyway.

    Dear Chris aka Wonder_boy,

Under normal circumstances I would simply disregard posts like yours, but since you signed it “Respectfully yours Chris” I will take you on your word sir that it was “respectfully submitted”, and thereby not an insulting post, but simply a misguided one.

Also, since you have brought up several areas of concern, I will do my best to answer you in these areas, point by point sir:

“Hey John Dalton, why do you have to act like such a nazi?...”

Since I’m not a member of the National Socialist German Workers' Party, I’m going to assume you are using the word “Nazi” as a noun whose main characteristic is that of a fascist. Please correct me if I’m assuming incorrectly sir. Since a fascist is nothing more than a reactionary or dictatorial person, I again, am assuming that you are thinking this is one of my character traits based upon some, or all of my previous posts.

If this is the case, I find a fundamental flaw in your analyses of my character, in that a fascist will never, under any circumstances admit he is, or has ever been wrong and that no one can teach him anything. If you would simply scroll through my previous posts you will find scores of entries that outline I am here mostly to learn from my colleagues and peers, and that I have much to learn of my craft, and spend a considerable amount of my time trying to hone my skills in this trade. So if you are trying to describe a particular character trait I have, I would find a more applicable one my friend.

“…Relax dude you dont have to point out every little mistake someone makes when they post a thread....”

Let me explain a few specifics when it comes to posting on this forum. When a fellow peer or colleague takes the time to either start a thread, or post an answer, or comment to an active thread, they should be willing to stand by their post, word for word. If they are not willing to do this, they simply should not post, period.

And when, not if, we make a mistake on a post, wouldn’t it be much better for all concerned, if a fellow peer or colleague posted a constructive criticism or pointed out a flaw in one’s post like a Gentleman, or Lady, rather than have the end-user, or Client point out this mistake. Speaking for myself, I am here, among other things, to learn, and glean from my fellow peer’s and colleague’s countless knowledge, and field experiences, and most assuredly want them to help me weed out any flaws in my knowledge of my trade. This would include major, as well as minor flaws that I would much rather have pointed out, and explained to me in a detailed technical language that I understand, so as I could become a better service technician and service my company, and Client more efficiently.

“…Especially people that are just starting out in the field…”

I’ll use the word apprentices, rather than students; because we all are students of this craft, no matter how long we have been here, are in much greater need of our guidance, knowledge, experiences, and options because of their lack of foundational skills, and knowledge in our trade. This is not an insult, but merely a fact of life, we are all ignorant, to some degree, and new people in the trade are a “little bit” more ignorant, than someone that has practiced it for a number of years, or decades.

“…Trust me no one likes a know it all kind of dude like you seem to be…”

If you would simply scroll through my previous posts, and the comments from some of my peers and colleagues, you would see that not only don’t I know it all, but at times have fallen flat on my face. In fact, I’m not surprised when I make a mistake on this forum; I’m shocked that I don’t make more of them. And that sir is a fact!

“…Be nice, you may need some help one of these days and someone might act like a jerk to you…”

Contrary to your above statement, I can most assuredly state, I do not need help one of these days, but rather need help on a daily basis. Hopefully when I do need help, my fellow peers and colleagues will gently point me in the right direction.

Lastly, friend, and I do not call you friend sarcastically, but rather from a fellow peer’s or colleague’s point of view, I would recommend you consider that of what I speak of in your future posts.

    Respectfully Submitted,
    John J. Dalton

Can't please everyone, but I'll keep trying............

    Gentlemen,

Thank you for your supporting words of encouragement, especially Norm and Diceman. It would seem that my particular posting style has ticked off our new member, God always finds ways to keep his sheep humble, and this is no exception. It would seem I have to work on my “people skills” a bit more.

    Respectfully And Most Humbly Submitted,
    John J. Dalton

Although some of us including Me do not see eye with Mr. Dalton he still has our respect as a competent technician. Please do not make the mistake of taking this web site personally and if you do, don’t take it personally for very long or it will eat you up.

This thread and this kind of thread will go no where on this site and is now closed to further discussion.
