Where is the condenser located ?
I have a Polar Pak system that had a refrigerant leak and went flat. The leak was on the bottom of the 3/8 loop that sits in the drain pan. After repairing it I started to charge the system. It is a 404A system. I am not sure what operating pressures I should be seeing. At one point I had a 20#suction and 350# discharge. The expansion valve was frosting up and the bulb seemed like it had signs of leaks. My question is when I replace the expansion valve what pressures and subcooling and superheat should I have.
Will my box temp goal be 0?
Anything I am missing?
Where is the condenser located ?
on top of the case
What is the ambient temperature at that location ?
70 to 75. the discharge air of the condenser seems to be recycling because of the low ceiling tiles.
Bet theres moisture in system....
Isn't sanity just a one-trick pony anyway? I mean, all you get is that one trick, rational thinking, but when you're good and crazy, well, the sky's the limit!
How clean is that condenser coil ? Your head pressure looks high for that ambient. Did you charge the refrigerant as a liquid ? When you say copper loop are you talking about the hot gas condensate evaporator ?
I have previously blown out the condenser coil but it probably could use more. I charged it as a liquid. yes the hot gas condensate evap. I am just not sure what proper operating temp pressures should be as well as superheat
iam gonna go with skpkey if the leak was in the loop in the evap drain pan u migh have some moistur in there
Look for 15.7-23.2 psig. That will put you around -20 to -10 SST. @ evaporator outlet or the txv bulb location. Once your box gets close to temp shoot for 6-8* SH .
Was the system flat on charge ?
Either way moisture can be drawn into system had a cold zone upright R/I freezer condensate loop leak system was runnung upon arrival pumping water... 404 POE believe it or not system is running to this day, after several over sized liquid drier change outs was actually able to pull and hold a 500 micron vacuum. 6 drier changes 083s . gotta go out tomorrow cause his other cold zone freezer is down.
Repair only done because he is a very good customer and it became kinda like a science project, just to see if I could do it. And its runnin' like a rabbit
I still bet moisture in system

If his system has a sight glass w/moisture indicator and the dot is yellow you got my vote.
LOL , Frosted TEV is the dead give away...

So is it at the inlet screen or the valve port ? Of course i would expect to see frost after the valve port.
I love the smell of phosgene first thing in the morning:
