I'm looking for some expert help in troubleshooting.

I have a 5 year old Trane HVAC system. Display on thermostat is blank, nothing works. I have power at the outlet the furnace plugs into. But no 24 volts at the thermostat (Red & White).

Furnace is a XV80, thermostat is a XT302C. Fuse is good, red LED flashes steady at 1 sec intervals.

The company that did the install says based on symtoms, it is a bad thermostat and not covered under my 10 year parts and labor extended warranty from Trane.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks

They can figure that out without seeing it?, how convenient, tstat is probably blank because its not getting power from the furnace

If its a Trane thermostat it should have been listed on the 10 year warranty and would be covered if that is the problem.

    Wink Problem solved

I guess im supposed to have 24v on the R & B terminals. No power at the thermostat, do have 24v at the furnace, so its a broken wire. My house is under remodel and I found the wire cut in the ceiling where the electrician just cut in a bathroom fan. Problem solved.

to "Trane" the thermostat was not listed on the extended warranty, only the furnace, condenser, and compressor.

    NOW a second question:

Is it worth the upgrade to change my t-stat from the current XT302c to the New XL803?

Can I just use the Honeywell VisionPro equivalent. (2 stage heat/cool)?

    Thanks.

    Thanks Dan

I guess the question is: Is the Trane XL803 EXACTLY the same as the Honeywell TH8320 other than the logo. Trane cant be bought on the internet aand Honeywell can

My Wholesale price for TRANE TCONT803 is obviously quite a bit less than what is seen on the internet for the comparable HNY TH8321.

I had no idea that Carrier developed a way to keep sloppy electricians from damaging there systems.

    Is that an Infinity option?

    Im impressed.

THE TRANE 802 AND 803 STATS ARE TOTALLY DIFFERENT BECAUSE OF TRANE's PROGRAMMING!

TO avidude IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY TO GO TO THE NEW TRANE STAT
