    Smile Converting a DX evaporator to hydronic hot water/chilled water use.

    Hi everyone, I am wondering if it is possible to convert my 3 ton DX coil into a hydronic heating/cooling coil by just removing the meetering device. I am curious as to how much of a BTU transfer difference there is in regards to DX vs. water coil. Any design engineers or hydrionics specialists out there that can help me out.

    I would just swap out your dx coil with a hydronic one. you will never be able to pump enough water through that small liquid line.

    I don't know if there are any specs but you probably wouldn't even get 1 ton of cooling with that setup.
