Anytime the system is open up, a new dryer should be installed just in case.

dang mike you have threads all over the place, anyway if you have a PROBLEM system CHANGE THE FILTER DRIER no way I would leave one in a system that was having problems, even if it was only a day old. What is the latest, did you get the new orfice in? I never saw any pressures posted for your unit do you have those avaliable?

why change the piston. if he is going though the trouble to install a new pistonor orfice then i sugest you step up and pay him to install a txv and be done with it once and for all. i personaly feel the scrol compressor works better with an expansion valve then an orfice
it will cost a little more and will work a lot better
    my opinoun only
