I replaced a 9 yr old 10 SEER 5 ton Carrier system with a Carrier 5 ton 14 SEER Puron system that was installed on June 24 2004. The compressor was a 38ESG060 and the coil was a CK3B-A060. From what I can tell the installers did a great job. They ran nitrogen through the lines and really did a clean professional looking job.

I was thinking about buying the 10 year parts and labor warranty from Carrier. The installer seems to only want to push his warranty, he doesn't even want to quote the Carrier warranty. I prefer a manufacturer backed warranty.

Carrier says I can buy it only from their distributors.

Any thoughts on how to proceed? I think I need to purchase it before June 24th 2005. If it's not too expensive it should provide piece of mind at the very least.

    Thx.

The dealers probably includes cleaning and checking once a year. The mfrs. won't but your are safer if paying 10 years in advance with the mfrs.,unless there is state licensing requiremnets for the dealers ,as in Florida, and he has the license.
