Well calling yourself Thuged Out Whittie and xxxPlayboixxx doesn't really scream out I'm smart either. Is 2= to? Does 4 = for? If you want advice from professional adults then ask in a professional way. From your name and communication skills I would draw the conclusion that the two years in tech school was a waste. It's no wonder the people that teach HVAC school that are on this forum are quiting thier jobs.

    LOL...

How to do a manual J, is a course in its self.

Did they teach you anything about piping.
Measuring super heat, and sub cooling.
    Temp delta, air or hydronic.
Checking voltage drop, amp draw, finding wattage.
    Converting wattage to btu.
    BTU to GPM.

These are all math, and used on a regular basis.

Don't know where you are in your studies to tell you what to write about, and not willing to do your home work for you.

    Ok, I'll bite...

First thing I would do, considering your post, is ask the teacher for some examples of problems he would like to see.

Write down those problems, and then come here and do a search.
Say one of your choices is charging a system by subcooling.
Do a search on both system charging and subcooling. There is enough info alsready on this site to give you an idea of what the process is. Then, if you have any qestions, come back and ask...

That way we can focus on a particular problem, and help you with the areas you don't understand.

Welcome to the trade young man. Glad to see you are going to tech school to better your life. The 'thug' life is
not much of a life in all reality.

speaking of 'thug' life... lemme get this out of the way...
I've seen the path's its led others down. Its filled with lies, deceat, suffering, and so on.
you probably can guess that I'll end up talking about prison and gettin shot, but that would be pointless cuz
the first 'lie' that we tell ourselves is...
    "that aint gonna be me"
"this is my life... leave me the f alone"
and then we top if off with...
    "respect me nigga"

The thing is.... you end up getting so disillusioned by
what you want to call your own.. that you fail to see the
    truth around you.
It will be your best friend that turns you on to four way window pane and purple haired scents.
Just wait till you push the chore boy down that pipe.
You've never felt so good in your life.
We say we wont' be like one of those other people thats out on the street.... fighting over a card board box saying
"get your a outta my home"
But its ok... "your not stupid like they are"
The only thing is.... you end up falling in love with that rush. You end up wantin it more and more.
Everyone says "Dont' do it or you'll get addicted"
But they don't say "Don't do it or you'll love it more than anything in the world."
Trust me... this is not a demon you want to play games with.

I've lived in the world of addiction. Its messed up.
My brother is still sprung on crack. His wife is screwed up in the head from so many years of xanax and any other kinda pill she can get her hands on. Most of my high school friends are dead now. One of which took out an
entire family as he hit them head on at over 100 miles per hour. I've had to drag my wife to the prison to visit another friend. Asked my friend about the guy that was caughing and sounding with the roughness a few chairs away.... full blown HIV. He said he's watched young punks come in and drop their drawers coming off the bus. They'd bend over and yell out "Protect me!!! Protect me!!!"
I've got another friend, alcoholic.... "Man... everytime I drive drunk I have a reck.... I'm not gonna drive again" Goes to show how screwed up he is in the head now.
Never occurs to him to stop drinking.... its the driving that gets him in trouble after all.

But... in the end... you have your own life to live....
    Your own mistakes to make.
"That crap won't happen to me. I'm not a punk like them"

Just remember this when you see your best friend snort his
first line of crystal and see the evil rush into his body.
Look real close into his eyes as the snot poors out his nose and his complection changes.
Keep in mind that at one time... he said "I'm not a punk like them" just like you
Watch him a few days later when his brain no longer produces this one particular chemical anymore.
Why should it produce it when its much easier getting it
some other way? And the brain goes....
    "I want more. I want more. I want more. I WANT MORE. I WANT MORE. I WANT MORE!!! I W A N T M O R E ! ! ! !"
How many times can you stand to hear that?
And you think the old "Are we there yet?" gets old.
You will do anything for it to JUST STOP.

Buts its OK.... Its the 'thug' life.
    Thats what its all about.

Are you sure you want to tempt walking through a living hell?

Now that I got that outta my system...

Hmmmm before I actually answer your post... muahahaha
Couple more pieces of advice I'd like to give you...
    *Be professional*
*Be respectfull* (it may be hard to see at the moment. But think of this forum as you would a business meeting.
It would be very disrespectful to bring in street language to the meeting. This is why the others have been so hard on you. hehe this holds alot of ground coming from someone named 'wormy' hehe. But in reality... I hold alot of pride in the name... it was passed onto me by the one that taught me the craft of sheetmetal fabrication.)

I'm going to steal someone's sig line from this forum.
Its a very powerful peice of advice though....
(arghh can't remember who's sig line it is though...
somebody speak up if they know)

    *Attitude determines Altitude*

    And last but not least...
Fill in your profile that you are going to school and where you are going.
Get rid of the reference to 'playboi' in your profile.
    Heck.. while your at it...
give yourself a rebirth and get a new name too
You will find that you'll get alot more help from these guys.

    In answer to your post.
A real good math equation you'll run into is calculating
the total CFM using the Heat Rise method.

    God bless and Take care.

The marchin' band came down along Main Street
The soldier blues fell in behind
I looked across and there I saw Billy
Waiting to go and join the line
And with her head upon his shoulder
    His young and lovely fiancee
From where I stood I saw she was cryin'
And through her tears I heard her say

Billy, don't be a hero, don't be a fool with your life
Billy, don't be a hero, come back and make me your wife
And as he started to go she said, Billy, keep your head low
Billy, don't be a hero, come back to me

The soldier blues were trapped on a hillside
    The battle raging all around
The sergeant cried, We've got to hang on, boys!
We've got to hold this piece of ground
I need a volunteer to ride up
And bring us back some extra men
And Billy's hand was up in a moment
Forgettin' all the words she said

    She said
Billy, don't be a hero, don't be a fool with your life
Billy, don't be a hero, come back and make me your wife
And as he started to go she said, Billy, keep your head low
Billy, don't be a hero, come back to me

I heard his fiancee got a letter
That told how Billy died that day
The letter said that he was a hero
She should be proud he died that way
I heard she threw that letter away ...

Aw nuts, now that song will be stuck in me head the rest of the day.

Wormy, good post. I'm also fond of that guy's sig line.

    • Electricity makes refrigeration happen.
    • Refrigeration makes the HVAC psychrometric process happen.
    • HVAC pyschrometrics is what makes indoor human comfort happen...IF the ducts AND the building envelope cooperate.

A building is NOT beautiful unless it is also comfortable.
