Everyone's mom makes it...and everyone has a family recipe
2Lb. lean hamburger
2/3 c. oatmeal
1/2 c. ketchup
salt + pepper
mix and shape into a loaf in a casserole dish
(if you use a bread pan the edges wont get crispy)
1/2 c. ketchup
1/4c brown sugar
1 Teaspoon Vinegar
Pour topping onto loaf
Bake at 375 for at least 1 1/2 hr
rest 10 min before slicing
Real Man's Meatloaf
1 lb hamburgher
1 lb pork sauage meat
1 box Stove top stuffing
1. diced onion
3/4 cup of water.
1 tablespoon K-Paul's meat magic.
Mix altogether. Pack it tight in a loaf pan. Bake at 400F for an 1-1.5 hour.
My mother's recipe. I'm looking to possibly add sweet italian sausage to the mix at some point.
Ground beef (1.5lb)
Onion (1 small), diced
Tomato sauce (small can)
Oregano (about 2TB)
Bread crumbs (about 1 cup, enough to keep the meat from being too moist)
Eggs (1 egg per lb of meat)
Peel and quarter potatoes. Add salt to water and boil until fork tender. Set aside.
Preheat oven to 350. Mix ground beef, ½ onion, egg(s), bread crumbs, oregano, sauce and milk. Shape into loaf and bake for about 1 hour. Add potatoes to pan about 15 minutes before meat is done.
Meatloaf's a staple in my house, I've tried em all.
Something I do everytime now is caramelize oinons, all you do is chop up an oinion and throw it in a hot frypan with oil. Stir it a few times then drop the heat to simmer and let them sit while you make the meatloaf.
Mix them into the meat last, it makes a big difference.

In 5th grade we had to present ourselves to the class. I said my fav food was Meatloaf! never again! i totally got made fun of LOL
instead of catchup, i like toping mine off with a good BBQ sauce..
Made it tonight for supper, "best meatloaf I ever ate!!"

Spice it up guys. Try mixing a can of diced green chilies in with your meat. Pay special attention to the sauce, we need this sweet here so that means lots of katsup.

I got the recipe from a radio show about 3 years ago. It's the best I've ever had.
Italian meat loaf
2 pounds lean ground sirloin
1 cup Italian bread crumbs
2 eggs beaten
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped onion (sautéed)
Mix all ingredients together, and place half of meat in loaf pan.
Make a tunnel in meat loaf mixture, and pack in 1 1/2 cups of Mozzarella cheese.
Place other half of meat over top, and seal edges.
Place in oven at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
After 1 hour, remove meatloaf and cover top with a paste of 1/2 cup ketchup and 2 teaspoons brown sugar mixed together.
Put back in oven for 15 minutes to a half an hour.
Let stand about 15 minutes before cutting.
HVAC/R guys have wierd tastes, otherwise they wouldn't be in this trade in the first place. Only seems natural that we share ideas about the chow we cook and eat.
