    Whats the avg. comission for a sales rep. in mid atlantic region? i am trying to figure where i stand.

    It depends on what you are selling.

    I have sold commercial service agreements for the last 20yrs. I average 7% of gross on the base sales and 5% on time and material or parts for any additional work.

    I can raise or lower my factor depending on the job. Meaning competition, type of equipment, distance from shop.

    The installation and projects sales people avg 7-10% on the gross sales of each project.

    We do not get commision on profits.

    i primarily sell residential installations, replacements and retro. currently i get 5% of the total sale plus $16k base salary. which avg.'s out to be just under 6.8% on the monthly gross. the 10% on gross must be a hypothetical scenario, one that is not practical in the "real" world.
