Can someone tell me the benfits of one over the other. Unit I am needing to replace is AC only, not for heating. Thx
VS blower, better control of air flow, better control of humidity, cost less to operate.
Regular a/h, cost less upfront.

How many times must one fix something before it is fixed?
also alot less fan noise.
It's NOT the BRAND,it's the company that installs it!!!!!
1)Better humidity control, which leads to better comfort.
2)Lower operating cost.
3)Lower noise level, especially if running the fan in the "ON" position at the thermostat.
To get better dehumidification, the VS needs good controls, like Carrier's Infinty.Be sure the control allows you to set the humidity in cooling at the very least.
Replacing a/c only means that you are going to use the furnace air handler which includes the old fan. But its possible to optimize the air flow to deliver the max latent removal all the time.
Maximizing the latent capacity, with a psc motor ,won't get as refined of a result ,in most if not all cases.Plus it's better to have the ability to maximize sensible or latent on an as needed basis.
